CAPR Calibration Probe

The LV-4 and LV-6 valves are calibrated to produce light point steps in increments of .025 log E. Unfortunately, the optics vary from lamp house to lamp house giving imperfect .025 log E steps. Using the CAPR, it is possible to calibrate a dichroic lamp house to an accuracy of 1/10 of a light point.

During calibration, the Light Valve Controller steps the valve through its range and uses the output from the CAPR's photocell to store a position correction code. These values are stored until another calibration is performed. A new calibration should be performed when a light valve is changed or any of the components affecting field flatness are changed.

The Calibration Probe contains a temperature stabilized photocell and fits into the aperture of most film printers.
